My little mountain man!

I just love a mountain man. Actually the first picture I ever saw of Jeremy was of him in the woods on a camping trip. I thought I had just been matched with Eddie Bauer or something (and everyone who's ever known me laughs hysterically because they know I'm the LEAST likely of anyone on Earth to be matched with Eddie Bauer.) He was gorgeous, strong, and according to eharmony...he was my perfect match. Well...now we have a little mountain man, and he is the light of my life and the twinkle in my eye ---even when he puts cottage cheese, blueberries, and a host of other things he was served for lunch all in his hair, all over his face, and all down the sides (only where the bib doesn't cover his clothes) of his body. Gotta love it!

A Waterfall of Words

Over the last few weeks it seems as though Jakey has been progressively saying more and more every day. At least trying to, that is. It started on March 1st when Jeremy took Jakey outside to see the moon...one of their favorite things to do together...and Jakey pointed to the moon and said m-oo-n. Jeremy came running inside to tell me all about it and I must admit I was a little skeptical. Well - sure enough he was saying moon and soon the waterfall started. Next was shoe. Only he says show - like he's from the deep south saying "sho' do" or something. It's pretty funny. Then he started saying uh-oh. Like when he throws his dinner to Levi. Levi is a lucky dog. He just LOVES Jakey. I'm sure it can't have anything to do with the fact that Jakey tries to feed him everything...like this morning...Levi had a pancake breakfast! Jakey didn't like it...but Levi did. Jakey prefers asparagus or broccoli or hummus. He'll devour a fig newton or animal crackers but he really does like and prefer a big spoon of hummus. He must get that from his father - cause I'm all about a pancake breakfast. Anyhow, next on the list of words was---no. Great. Last night he repeatedly said "no" when Jeremy was wiping his face after dinner. That means he understands what the word means too because he hates having his face washed. As I am typing this he is walking into the office with one of my shoes on and the other one in his hand and a big smile on his face. For a little boy his size, walking in my shoes must be like trying on a Sasquatch's shoe. It's huge. But it sure is fun, and he sure is cute.

Corned Beef & Cabbage...and gas.

Well...being the good housewife I am...I cooked Corned Beef and Cabbage today for my boys. Actually I prepared and started it...Jeremy finished it as I was at the dentist. Anyhow, Jakey loved it, and Jeremy thought it was good too, and I thought it was great, except now I have horrible gas. Jeremy's in for a treat tonight. Maybe he has gas too. Maybe I'm the one who's in for the treat. Maybe Jeremy has gas and Jakey will have a horrible poopy diaper in the morning for me to change. A corned beef and cabbage gassy diaper. Sick. I guess I probably get 2 treats then, right? What a lucky girl. You act like you're surprised that I'm writing about having gas....well maybe you just don't know me as well as you thought you did, cause I would totally blog about having gas. You stinker!

A week!!!!

I can't believe it's been a week since my last post! I don't have anything really to say except that I'm on my way to the dentist and I am NOT excited. A filling fell out in one of my molars about 6 months ago and it has just started bothering me. It was a silver filling and only part of it fell out. Now I have to get it fixed. I hope I don't get Mercury poisoning. Hmm. Levi keeps barking and Jakeys trying to take a nap. I'm about to get out the water bottle. Silly Levi. Gotta go!
Happy St. Paddy's day!!!!!

Instructions and a helment

These are the 2 things I wish Jakey had come with. Well...the instruction book isn't as necessary as the helment, but it would be nice for sure. It seems over the last couple of months (I guess since he got really comfortable on his feet) he is constantly taking bumps and bruises. He has just started running and now he gets going really fast and can't stop himself. He just propels his body forward and then it's hard to slow down. Tonight J-train gave Jakey a bath and afterward he came running nakey to see me in the office! (where I was hard at work on the computer - checking my email) (Jakey came running in nakey, not J-train...in case you were wondering!) Anyhow, he was running so fast with his little round tummy sticking out and propelling him forward faster and faster and had his little arms going too, and his head bobbing from side to side and then boom...the side of his face, over his right eye, hit the corner of the desk. It was horrible. He was just an inch too close. It didn't bleed, but did leave a little bruise and a red mark going diagonally across his eye-bone. Of all the places to hit---the corner of the desk---and his eye! It was like I saw the whole thing happening in slow motion and even though he was only 2 feet from me, I couldn't get my hand out fast enough to slide it in-between the desk and his face. I felt horrible and he was crying and I scooped him up immediately and ran into the nursery and rocked him in the rocking chair. I held him tight and kept saying I was sorry I couldn't stop it from happening. Those are the moments when I need the helment and the instruction book. J-train was very concerned, but kept his cool. I on the other hand started freaking out about if he could see and what if his eye was damaged, etc. etc. J-train told me to calm down and that Jakey would be more freaked out if I was acting totally freaked out...I hate it when he's right like that. Anyhow, after about 1 minute (which is forever when your baby boy is crying) he stopped crying and went over to his toy chest (it's a large laundry basket pretending to be a super-cool toy chest!) and grabbed his pirate ship and started making it move around and make sounds. J-train said he was fine, and if he couldn't see he would still be crying, and his eye would be red and probably not even open...but I still insisted maybe he couldn't see, and how did he know that everything was ok...so J-train held Jakey and covered his left eye while I waved my hand and a green jewel drawer pull around in the air, and Jakey reached out to grab it and kept following it with his right eye. YES!!! He could see!!! I worry about crazy tragedies like that happening a lot...one of my quirky little OCD things. Anyhow, I am so thankful AGAIN that God protected him AGAIN! His eye could have been damaged, or it could have been worse, but it was just a little bump. Anyhow...I still wish for the helment. And the instruction book would be nice when he pitches a temper-tantrum because he can't put 5 goldfish in his mouth at once and then hold 10 more in each hand...darned old mom making him chew up what he has in his mouth first. Temper tantrums are no fun!!! Neither are boo-boos. I'm just glad that at the end of the night I was able to hold him in my arms and rock him to sleep and feel him breathing and see his sweet little baby face with his eyes closed and his arms tucked in by his tummy. We just rocked and rocked until he fell asleep and then I just held him close and tight, and listened to him breathe and thanked God for my precious baby boy.

My Beautiful Boys

Blogger friends...these are my beautiful boys...my husband J-train, and my son Jakey. I am so blessed. Even in these tough times, I am surrounded by the protection of my God and the love of my boys. What more could a girl need or want for that matter??? I am blessed, and I am thankful.
Have a great day!!!

And...still going...and going....and going

So I can't sleep, and I should be studying, but I'm listening to music instead (I've already done a lot of studying today, by the way in case you're wondering) and looking through old pictures on my computer. I want to get one of those portable storage drives that holds pictures. I've actually entered a drawing for a free one...but I'm not holding my breath. I have so many pictures on my computer. I have 1000s of pictures on my computer. That's right...1000s. I have pictures from 2005, which was 2 years before I even had my son...and I have taken many many more since I had him. Anyhow, they are fun to look through and I'll be posting some of my favorites over the next few weeks. Playing on my itunes has been a mix of some of my favorite music...Damien Rice, Snow Patrol, Dora, Garden State & The Last Kiss soundtracks, Wilco, Silent Parade, Dashboard Confessional, Madeleine Peyroux, Joshua Radin, John Mayer, John Legend, Iron & Wine, and Elliott...just some of the many, but enough to let you know I am in one of those music moods where you just want to mellow out and listen to music. I'm also drinking a cup of Bengal Spice tea from Celestial Seasonings...no sugar, cals, or carbs...but tons of spices so it tastes totally sweet. Right up my alley...since I ate way too many biscuits today. That's right...I made biscuits again. Anyhow, oh well...I'm definitely going to try to go to bed now. April...aren't you glad you got me into blogging???? Don't worry...tomorrow I'll only post 1 post...perhaps. It just depends on if I have insomnia still, which is probably likely since I have had it for the past few weeks. See ya!

Sweet music to my ears

I am sitting here listening to Damien Rice's Live from the Union Chapel CD. Delicate to be exact. I love it...it makes me so happy and so relaxed and so wonderful. Do you like Damien Rice? What's your favorite song? Please share!

and time just keeps going by!

I can't believe how fast time goes by. It seems like just a few weeks ago that the fall was here and football started and we all bundled up to go outside...now Spring is almost upon us and the signs are everywhere. We went out back yesterday and as a family did a little bit of yard work, cutting the branches that were growing over the fence into the neighbors yard and just getting some fresh air. Jakey loves to go outside and play. He likes to listen to the birds, and point out planes and it just makes him happy...which of course makes us happy to see him like that. It's the simple things, you know? Like the way he looks up and smiles, or the way the trees start to bud and then turn into big beautiful trees that shade the yard. It was a beautiful day and we all had fun outside together. Levi had fun too...he thought all the branches we were cutting down were new sticks for him to chase. He's so silly. He loves to follow Jakey around the yard...and I'm pretty sure (J-train heard it too) Jakey said "no!" to Levi yesterday when Levi was trying to get Jakey's orange. It was a wonderful day.

A very Ally McBeal moment

So...I just plucked my eyebrows for the first time in lets say QUITE A WHILE. I was starting to look like Frida Kahlo, no offense to those who like that look. It's just not that flattering on me, that's all. I'm sure my sweet amazing husband will be thankful that I have finally plucked. He never even said a word. What a man. They just grow and all of a sudden they are OUT OF CONTROL. You know it's bad when you wake up and look in the mirror, and all the hairs are so long they have swept the reverse direction while I tossed and turned during the night and now I look like the unibomber or Joaquin Phoenix or something. So, I plucked and plucked and plucked some more and then I went into the bathroom to check the big mirror and all of a sudden, like angels from the sky, I heard Barry White singing "Can't Get Enough". A very Ally McBeal moment. I'm sure that happens to everyone when they pluck their eyebrows, right???

A Reality TV junkie

Ok, so I have to confess that I am a reality TV junkie. I love Project Runway, Top Chef, Flipping Out, America's Next Food Network Star, Design Star, and American Idol...of course. I also watched from beginning to end this time --- The Bachelor---and I loved every minute of it. Up until tonight that is. I loved Melissa and wanted them to end up together, and was smiling and almost crying when they did, and then I felt SO angry and almost like I had been played and this whole thing was a FAKE when the "after the rose ceremony" came on. Stupid show. I know my husband would say...it's TV....and he dated 25 girls at once, what did you think would happen. I thought she (Melissa) would end up with a prince charming (like I did!!!! I married my eharmony match made in heaven, who I swore the first time I saw his picture and was matched with him that this was the man I was going to marry). Anyhow, Melissa wasn't as upset as I would think she would have been. I mean come on...you don't break off an engagement on national TV. What a jerk. I know there's a part of me that thinks he's a good guy, but I think the way he handled that was totally inappropriate. That's what I think. I also was wondering if the whole thing was planned to happen that way...I never thought that until he started crying on the couch with Chris. A bunch of malarky. That's what I think!!!!!

But I'm not bitter, or angry, or anything like that. I know reality tv is totally dramatic, but I do love it and I'm totally going to tune in for part 2 of the after the rose ceremony tomorrow!

I'm a sucker.

I know.
